good at something...

Do you ever have those days where you wonder, "what am I good at?" I hope that I'm good at something. I try to help my kids be good at something. Between all the school activities, soccer, gymnastics, ballet... (are we over-scheduled or what?!) I feel like all I have done is run around like a crazy person. I'm hoping to help them feel like they are good at something, anything, right?

I know that I don't need to add one more thing to my day but I realized that I'm good at this, (like maybe even really good at this) and I wanted to share my epiphany. I don't mean it in, the pat yourself on the back, did a good job kind of way but, I am finding my style and it fits like a good pair of flip flops. I like to try on stilettos and sometimes even wear them but I'm most comfortable in a good pair of havaiana flip flops. I don't think I'm making one bit of sense to anyone else but me. I'm just happy - happy with me and who I am as a photographer, happy to be learning new things in this industry and happy to shoot what fits.

That is how this session was for me from start to finish. She hired me to shoot black and white, up close face shots of her kids being themselves. Could that be a more perfect fit for me? I love up close, I love candid, I love black and white and it all happened in my north facing windows with the light that I love.....
